DPT is an abbreviation for three diseases: Diptheria, Pertussis(Whooping Cough), and Tetanus. The innoculation consists of three separate doses. The first comes at two months old. The next doses are given between then and five years old, often with the 2nd and 3rd doses given at four and six months.

In the UK babies have their first dose of the DPT vaccine at 2 months of age, the second at 3 months and the third at 4 months. At present it is given as a 5-1 jab, diptheria, tetanus and pertussis, polio and Hib, known as DTaP/IPV/Hib. A booster is given at 3/4 years old.

Usually the first one is at 4-6 months, then 12 months, then 18 months, but it can always vary depending on if the child has any existing conditions. Make sure the child is not allergic to anything that is in the vaccine. Otherwise, it is a very important vaccine.
