The language in the book is easy to understand. The story fits teenagers' potential life risks. Everyone from 6th grade through 12th grade could understand the story. The story is told in the first person. Informal forms of English language appears often in the book. But the message is powerful.

I have never heard of Imani, All Mine but I would probably say young adult (13-17) or even adult. I have read books much worse than a 15-year-old having a baby, including sex, rape, and even death scenes in the young adult section. It should probably also depend on maturity of whomever's reading it.

I believe this is a book for young adults - i.e. from 15 years old upwards. The main character of the story is a 15 year old single mother; the subject matter is suitable for older teenagers.
