I read them when I was twelve years old and enjoyed them. Some of the philosophical aspects of the books might go over the head of a ten year old but he will probably enjoy them anyway. There's not any sex and not much profanity that I can recall so it should be age appropriate.

The first Ender Series book, "Ender's Game" is specifically about a 10-12 year old boy, and it is suitable for his age. Several of the later books in the series include his difficulty adjusting to civilian life after the war and making up for war crimes - more adult material.

I would agree that he should be old enough for it. Ender's Game is very well written and is highly entertaining.

I would advise having him wait a few years to read the entire series. The main character in the first book, Ender Wiggins, is a child, but part of the storyline involves him killing (in self-defense) other children. The first book is about him being trained for a war. Later books get more philosophical, and they are all worth reading.

I read it at his age, and my son, who is also 10, is reading it as well. There aren't any strong sexual themes, so it should be appropriate.

It depends on your son's ability as a reader. If he wants to have a go, by all means, let him. Starting a child off as an independent reader broadens his mind, intellect, experience, vocabulary, imagination, comprehension, focus, curiosity and more. The benefit is boundless.

I think that a 10-year-old boy would enjoy the Ender Series. The stories are not really geared to children; however, the main character is a young boy, and as I recall there is nothing in the book that would be offensive to a child you son's age. Perhaps you could read them together!

If your son is a strong reader, 10 is a fine age to start reading the Ender series, especially Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow. Ender's Game is remarkable.

I think the Ender books are suited for people aged 13 or older. They contain violence and difficult themes. If a ten-year-old wants to read them I'd advise discussing them together.

The Ender series can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Your son should read it now and then again when he is older to fully understand its intricacies.

Your son is too young. You should wait until your son is a teenager before letting him read them. There is some explicit and graphic contect of a higly sexual nature in those books. A child of ten is not ready for something that steamy. Give him Judy Blume books to start.
