There are many good reasons to add sulfur to a yard when landscaping. First, spraying a water and sulfur mixture over the lawn can kill fleas and other insects making your yard more safe for animals. Also, sulfur can be added to your soil if it is too alkaline to lower the PH.

Sulfur has been used as an insecticide since ancient days. It will help control pests like fleas and ticks but will also kill spiders and other insects that your yard or garden needs. It comes in liquid and dust forms and can be used as a fumigant if needed.

Using sulfur in the yard area will help lower the ph of the soil. You can mix sulfur in directly with soil or scatter it and spray. Sulfur is recommended above gypsum as sulfur allows easier softening where the soil is concerned. Peat moss is another way to lower soil ph when added to soil.
