Proven alternative energy sources include solar, wind, tidal and geothermal. In many countries these energy sources are common. For example in Iceland many houses are heated entirely by geothermal energy. In parts of southern Canada, wind turbines produce electricity. Solar energy is common in regions with reliable, consistently sunny weather.

Solar and wind energy are proven forms of alternative energy. Windmills are used widely by many different companies and even some houses. Solar panels absorb energy from the sun. There are cheaper and better for the environment.

The most commonly used and proven forms of alternative energy are sun, water and wind energy. Solar energy is collected with solar panels or reflectors to heat up water. Wind energy is harvested via wind mills. Most typical water energy plants are hydro-dams. But also tidal power plants and wave power plants are proved in a research setting.

There are a number of proven forms of alternative energy. Solar and wind energy are the most common. They can produce energy in quantity that equals and surpasses coal, oil, and other polluting types of energy. Energy can also be produced using the methane gases from composting. Others are hydropower, geothermal, biofuel, and biomass.
