Biomes are in other words ecosystems or types of environment that have characteristic climate conditions and plants. As the name suggest aquatic biomes are water biomes. There are freshwater and saltwater regions. In these categories we have oceans, coral reefs, estuaries, ponds and lakes, and wetlands.

A biome is an ecosystem inhabited by particular plant and animal species. There are five, and aquatic is predominately defined by being water based, and the most predominant biome. It is differentiated by Freshwater- ponds, streams, wetlands, or Marine- oceans, coral reefs, and estuaries.

The aquatic Biomes can be broken down into two main parts, the freshwater and the marine. The freshwater includes Ponds and lakes,, while marine includes oceans etc.

Aquatic biomes include any amount of water that supports life, from riverlets to oceans. Since water covers about three fourths of the earth there are many biomes. These can be shallow or deep and can contain a wide variety of plants, animals, and minerals.
