Some cancers can cause local swelling, redness and/or tenderness. They may or may not be associated with frank pain. Objects that enlarge, change shape or change color may be cancerous. Having a fever, sweating especially at night, weight loss, feeling weak, becoming pale may be associated with cancer, as well. But none of these is diagnostic of cancer.

Since there are many types of cancer, there are many different signs and symptoms. However, there's usually edema or swelling of a specific area, pain, ulceration and sometimes bleeding; this in local symptoms. When cancer has metastysed, there can be enlarged lymph nodes, liver or spleen, fracture of bones and neurological symptoms. Systemic ones include weight loss, anemia and fatigue

A wound or sore that doesn't heal, a mole that changes color, or a lump can be a sign of cancer. But many times, there are no signs and no symptoms. See your doctor regularly to catch it early if you do develop cancer at some point.
