They are painful reoccuring open sores in your mouth. Unlike herpes, they are not contagious, and are not caused by viruses. It is one of the most common oral conditions, but the cause is unknown. They might be related to certain types of food, allergies, stress, and vitamin deficiencies.

A canker sore is an ulceration, but it does not necessarily mean it is herpes. Herpes can cause a canker sore, but it isn't always the case. Hope this has helped!

Canker sores are bright red open sores that often appear around the corners of the mouths of those affected by this condition. These sores are a form of herpes. They can be contagious and spread from one individual to another. Be careful not to share towels and touch any fluids that may drain.

Canker sores are not herpes. They are ulcer-like sores of an unknown source that occur on the tongue or inside of the cheeks or lips and are not contagious to others. They seem to appear more when someone is under stress, having their menstrual cycle, drinking or eating things containing a lot of acidic liquids.
