Black Spot is one, there is also Myxobacteriosis (spots are swollen), and fin rot. This can strike your tank and reek havoc. Things to do are 1. check the filter is working correctly (look at the manual if you have to), 2. test the water (is there pH off? how about bacteria? 3. search the web.

common barb diseases are called columnaris or mouth fungus. its not real fungus but bacterial infection in mouth due to poor quality water and food.
