Pear Crumble: stew pears until soft, cover with crumble mix (flour, butter and sugar combined to a breadcrumb consistency), bake in oven for 30 minutes. Pear Sponge: stew pears, cover with sponge cake mixture (eggs, sugar, butter and flour). Bake until sponge is cooked. Both recipes can be served with hot custard, ice cream or cream

One of the most common (and ways to use up a lot of pears) is making pear pie or a carmalized pear upside down cake. You might also want to try to bake them whole, such as poached pears. If you want more common foods where you can use pears in the recipe, try some muffins or pear loaf cake.

You can make pear pie with crust and whipped cream, or put pears with vanilla icecream for a good dish. Baked pears in brown sugar are good too.

You can make poached pairs. You can use any kind of pear and any kind of poaching liquid that you would like. Most people use a desert wine as the poaching liquid. Bring the liquid to a simmer, peel the pears, and then add them to the liquid. Let the pears cook until soft and serve with whipped cream.

They are great in cobblers, crisps (esp. with ginger), upside-down cakes, strudels, turnovers, pies and tarts, as well as poached in wine with cheese or nuts and honey. If you get tired of desserts, Bosc pears also taste great in a grilled baguette sandwich with ham and gruyere.

One of the tastiest desserts is a pear gruyere pie, with gruyere cheese baked into the crust. Pureed pears make a great ice cream topping. Add cinnamon for pear sauce.

Glazed baked pears are always good. Basically what you do is skin the pears, mix together some sugar and brown sugar and sprinkle it over the pears. Bake for about 20 minutes.
