Some of the easiest projects involve looking at regular everyday items. Like the life-cycle of a water bottle or plastic bag. Another easy project is monitoring the type and quantity of waste produced in a household and proposing ways to reduce the waste through compost or recycling.

A classic science fair project that is simple enough for elementary students is to build a volcano out of paper-mache. To make the volcano explode use some vinegar and baking soda. Remember to add orange dye to the "lava".

A baking soda and vinegar "volcano" can be made by using paper-mache around a bottle inside, and then filling it with food color (orange and red are great) and vinegar. Add baking soda and watch it "erupt."

One easy one is to see if a plant grows better in sunlight, artificial light, or darkness. Even better if you do it for two plants. Another good one is to roll a ball down various inclines, and see how far the ball rolls after it hits the bottom.
