Start by associating one letter with a common word. B is for baby. C for cat. Stress the sound. Eventually he will pick up on the sounds in other words.

The best thing to do is start by teaching letter sounds to insure the child knows what sounds they are listening for. For example ba is for B in words like baby or book. Once they have the letter sounds down, then you can work on letters sounds in words.

First of all you should practice with him the words he already knows. such as "mammy " or "dady ". secondly you should teach him to pronounce vowels , these being the easiest letters to speak. Then you could start pronouncing consonants. with a little time and patience he will slowly learn to talk. good luck

Always use phonics to teach letters. Sound out each letter in the word, and then slowly put them together. For example: CAT. What does the first sound like? Cah, cah. Then aaa. Then Ttt. Then you can try Caaaa, then caaattt. This is a very effective method to get your child to sound out letters.
