Any kind of stretching exercise can be done while sitting. You can also do flexibility exercises for your ankles, wrists and shoulders. Add ankle weights and do sitting leg lifts. Hold small weights and you can do exercises for all parts of your upper body. Also try breathing exercises to increase lung capacity.

Bicep exercise lifting arms, bicycle trainings. Training endurance on a chair is not a good idea but when there is no other option you can always integrate a bicycle on a chair or buy for seniors. Check the market and see the latest options if you have the money to buy one.

A gentle form of seated exercise is Chair Chi, a form of Tai Chi. Slow, flowing motions along with rhythmic breathing can improve your flexibility and balance leading to a better sense of peace and well being. All you need is a chair to sit in. There are several books and videos availableto guide you.

I work in a nursing home and some good exercises are arm rotations, kicking a ball back and forth between others and flexing their fingers and toes to keep them from stiffing up.

One exercise would consist of sitting in a chair and slowly bending over to try and touch your toes. Be sure to go slow to avoid an injury.
