The best football workout plans is to improve the players and strength and conditioning. I would divide the time fifty fifty between the two, with the cardio consisting of a lot of running (sprints especially), and a lot of weightlifting.

A good football workout plan depends on the level you are coaching. Pre High School athletes should refrain from weight lifting and stick to running and calisthenics. High School players can begin weight lifting with aerobic activity. Safety of the players will be your first responsibility! Always watch each player to see how they are handling the workout.

Strength training (i. e lifting weights), sprints, and any type of resistant training (i. e. running in the pool, running with bands strapped to you, etc. )

Start of your workout plans with a schedule. Maybe start practice with strectching, then go for a run, after that life weights and alternate days with practicing in the gym and on the field.

For little league football, which I'm assuming is what you are coaching, the best idea is to do plenty of drills that involve running courses. In addition, they should be allowed to scrimmage as much as possible - this is a great workout and the best way for younger players to learn the game.

Each position is different - quarterback practise throwing to receivers, wide receivers running routes and catching, offensive lineman blocking, running backs running routes with the ball, and players on defense tackling.

The "Bigger, Faster, Stronger" workout was always a success in the high school setting. It incorporates the strength training regime common to most football programs but also incorporates a good deal of agility drills. The agility drills really seemed to pay off on your playmakers. The strength training portion uses compound exercises rather than the more specialized approach.

You have to do alot of switching in the workout plan such as upper body one day and lower body the next.
