During Paleolithic Period man discovered fire. The first stone tools were also developed in this period. The dawn of agriculture, the development of art and religion are also related to the Paleolithic Period.

The Paleolithic Period started about 2.5 million years ago and ended about 12,000 BP. Humans experienced great gains during this period. During the early Paleolithic, they were hunter-gatherers and began to live together in groups and started to make and use simple tools. They also started to create art and form ritual practices.

During the Paleolithic period, several important events occurred. Most notably, man discovered fire. Stone Age men also learned to develop crude spears that allowed them to hunt large animals. One other event that occurred is that man learned to domesticate animals such as sheep.
