OCD is about thoughts or impulses AND behaviors. The DSM-IV lists detailed, complex criteria that must be met before a diagnosis of OCD can be made.

The thoughts associated with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) are obsessive thoughts, meaning that they are persistent worries that are very hard to quiet. These may include ruminations about certain people or certain things you believe you should have done or should not have done or almost anything. They recur to the point that they seriously interfere with enjoying your life.

Everyone has OCD to a degree. We ask ourselves questions like-- like did I lock the door and then we check multiple times. It is when OCD gets compulsive that there is a problem. If you do things like worry about germs so you wash your hands over and over until the repeated action starts to impact your life--get help.

They are repetitive thoughts about doing things. An example is thinking over and over about locking the door. Your actions will be overly repetitive too.
