A huge drawback of e-commerce is that it is difficult to track down hacker transactions because of the anonymity of the internet.

Too many shoppers (browsers) who don't buy. Difficulty in building credibility (because anybody can make a web site, including con artists). Shipping and return policy increase costs. Difficulty in processing small payments. Tax compliance for multiple city and state taxing districts can increase complexity of each transaction (who pays what percent on which goods).

E-commerce is more susceptible to fraud, because it is anonymous and allows scammers from around the world to steal information or products.

One drawback to e-commerce is the lack of personal interaction. Recall the frustration you feel when you hear "Press 1 for English..." and think "I just want to talk to a person!" The loss of a brick-and-mortar storefront dehumanizes businesses, particularly within the scope of customer service. When an item breaks or fails, consumers want a person, not a website.
