Pain is the most common side effect you could expect. However you may also have some pus formation due to food particles getting stuck there. Simple gargling will not help. You will have to gargle with salt water to avoid infection.

You should expect some cheek swelling and your gums will be sore. The doctor should give you some painkillers after the removal and expect to sleep off the anesthesia.

After wisdom teeth removal a patient will experience bleeding for approximately 24 hours following the procedure. Gauze should be placed on the gum and changed every two hours. If bleding is heavy, placing a tea bag on the area may help. Expect to chew foods on the opposite side of the mouth.

Swollen cheeks, sore and painful gums. Hard to eat. Feverish. Take prescribed pain medication, it helps. Drink plenty of liquids. Rinse with warm salt water. Do not smoke or drink out of straw - may cause dry socket.
