At the end of your approach, spin your wrist to the inside side of the lane, and raise your arm straight up.

Before releasing the ball you should aim at your target and causually move up to the line. Just remember to follow through once you release the ball. Your main goal is to be consistent on your release and not to over throw and lose control of your target, this will also help in not injuring yourself.

Do not twist your arm. The release should be with your hand in the handshake position, and NOT in the palm up position. Use a 4-step approach and release with your dominant hand and opposite foot forward. For right-handed, release with ball in line with the outside of right foot. After release, continue with your follow-thru.

Keep your thumb up top, kind of pointing the thumb directly at the pin you would like to hit first. Do not release too far off the ground. At first, do not try to spin the ball. Also, start your release with a step forward, and take one to three steps total.
