Some typical problems with the GMC are that it is an inefficient Build. The GMC 454 has a very inefficient engine and problems can arise with air conditioning and brakes. The GMC is a really simple machine that can have many problems if it is not taken care of properly.

It has very poor gas mileage and the bolt on the manifold isn't tight so it is known to crack.

The 454 is an all around great engine. It has enough strength to pull a house. It was common in a lot of the older 1 ton trucks. One of the main problems I have seen happen is the heads go bad. One of the great things though is GMC parts are cheap.
