Two widely used herbal medicines in India are allium sativim, which is used because of it's antibacterial properties. In laymens terms, allium sativim helps the body to fight against disesases that affect the immume system. The second is aloe barbedensis. Aloe barbedensis, which is a flower extract, is sometimes used as a laxative or purgative.

Indian people use a lot of herbal remedies as these are usually cheaper and easier to find. They use besan,chana dal and gram flour as beauty enhancers. They also use milk, almonds, turmeric, rose-water and yoghurt for the same properties. These are said to remove acne, freckles and moisturise the skin.

Turmeric, ginger, aloe, fenugreek, garlic, neem and spearmint are some widely used herbal medicines in India. Some people also use tulsi ( holy basil) and cloves for medicinal purpose.
