Yes, catholics do indeed believe that dinosaurs did exist. I'm a catholic, and as far as I know this has never been called into question by the church.

because the catholic system has never had a real explanation, just like a child who doesnt know the answer will change the subject and walk away, just like every chatholic believer (including priests) does when i ask this question...  add a comment

Catholics generally accept the estimated age of earth and has no official stance against dinosaurs. The Catholic church has made no official declaration regarding dinosaurs.

I'm a practicing Catholic and we believe they existed. This is an interesing question. Why would we believe anything different?

You obviously aren\'t practising too hard ^_^. If you\'re a catholic you believe the world is only approx. 6,000 years old. That is your religion\'s stance not my opinion. Obviously dinosaurs are documented to be approx. 200+ million years old. Quite the difference in my eyes.  add a comment

Obviously, you are ignorant of the Catholic church's "official stance" on the age of the Earth, dinosuars, evolution and so on. In a nutshell. you are wrong. But don't take my word for it, look it up. Try a Catholic source, instead on people who "think" they know the Church.  add a comment

Yes. As a Catholic who went to Catholic school, we studied dinosaurs. It's pretty hard to say they didn't exist with current evidence.

But then as a catholic your world didnt exist beyond 9000 years. So its pretty obvious that dinosaurs are a lie. Jesus on the other hand is as real as it gets. Remember that or u go to hell.  add a comment

I don't know why the Catholic church wouldn't believe in the existance of dinosaurs. Some Catholics believe in the evolution theory but I have never heard this is a forbidden belief.

The majority of Catholics and priests believe in evolution. Most of Catholics, Pope included, (I know well since I live in Italy and once I was a Catholic), think that the Bible should be interpreted and not taken in the literal sense. Here we do not have Creationists, luckily.

Are there any mentions of Dinosaurs in the Bible? no!! So they really don't exist. If you are a true catholic you should beleive in Jesus not dinosaurs. If you are still in doubt ask the Pope

Yes. The Catholic Church accepts the scientific theory of evolution, and the evidence that the earth is more than four billion years old, and the fossil evidence of dinosaurs, etc. The Church sees no conflict between the scientific belief and the creation of the world by God.

Doctrinally the Catholic Church accepts that the scientifically determined age of the earth is correct, that fossil animals including dinosaurs existed and that some form of evolution has occured.

Catholics don't believe the Earth is only 6000 years old. That would be Jehovah's Witnesses. I went to Catholic School. They believe in dinosaurs!

It depends on the Catholic church I think. My mother grew up in the 50s and her church believed in evolution and in dinosaurs so I really think it depends on what church you're talking about and how conservative the pastor is. I think generally Catholicism is fairly liberal-leaning as far as churches go.

Catholics actually don't have a position on dinosaurs. The Cactechism does quote, however, that, "Each of the various creatures, willed in its own being, reflects in its own way a ray of God's infinite wisdom and goodness".

The catholic religion believes the earth is roughly 6000 years old. If you are a catholic and you literally interpret the bible (which is what the denomination dictates) then dinosaurs would refute your story of world creation. So either believe in Catholicism or dinosaurs. Can't have it both ways.

Incorrect. The Catholic Church teaches that evolution may be believed alongside creationism, but that humanity was created as-is and not subject to evolution because mankind has a soul whereas other creature do not.  add a comment

Incorrect. The Catholic church does NOT teach the Earth is only 6000 years old. It also does not teach a strict literal translation of the entire Bible, word for word. Check the Catholic Answers website for more info.  add a comment
