What are the characteristics of an oriental flower arrangement?

The characteristics are presence of space and specifically spaced flowers. The earth, moon, and sun are the representation of where the flowers are placed. Generally the heavier flowers are placed near the base of the arangement and the smaller, longer, flowers are placed near the top.

Oriental flower arrangements are linear in composition, using commonplace branch materials arranged in a flowing line, using minimal blossoms. The use of naturalism is prominent in these arrangements.
