Stem cell research, a method of regenerative medicine is a controversial issue of annihilating one life in order to save the life and health of another. This is especially in the case of the embryonic type of stem cells. The embryo is where life begins, and to destroy that to provide life for another is immoral.

Most cons of stem cell research stem from the use of embryonic stem cells from "unused" fetuses. These are often harvested from abortion clinics and fertility clinics. The cons are that it takes the life away from an often viable fetus. Also, it is suggested that adult stem cells are just as useful as embryonic stem cells.

The cons of embryonic stem cell research include: the destruction of embryos to create stem cell lines, which some believe degrades the value of human life or the slippery slope of creating lives to destroy for science. It also risks the introduction of human cloning.

Some individuals feel the use of embryos for stem cells to be murder. Also they argue that there is no guarantee that stem cells will work miracles as claimed.
