The first and most obvious flavor is pineapple juice. After pineapple, there is a an additional six difference juices which include apple, orange, guava, apricot, papaya and passion fruit. The original Hawaiian punch was comprised of seven fruit flavors: apple, apricot, guava, orange, papaya, passion fruit, and pineapple. It was created in 1934 as a fruit topping for ice cream. The fruit flavor was so popular that people started mixing it in water to make a fruity flavored drink.

Hawaiian Punch is primarily sugar, food coloring, and artificial flavoring agents. It is meant to simulate more traditional fruit punch cocktail mixtures, which are flavored through the blending of several fruit juices like cherry, peach, pear, passionfruit, mango, cranberry, apple, orange, and pineapple. There are many combinations for creating fruit punch, but Hawaiian Punch is really just sugar.

Tropical flavors are used such as pineapple, grape and orange. If you are making the punch from scratch be sure to have appropriate amounts of the flavors you wish to add. Also, you will want to use a flavor mix to capture that hawaiian taste. Other flavors you might use are tropical peach as well.
