Having had two kids without an epidural I think the first thing you can do to help yourself is find a doula. You can look at lamaze/Bradley methods which focus on breathing. Some women use hypnosis with success. I relied a lot on movement: rocking, walking, etc. Experiment with a few to see which one seems most comfortable for you.

Having done it twice, my best advice is hire a doula. This labor support person can help you through a drug-free delivery and has many methods that help.

You can have a natural child birth in the hospital. They just don't give you meds. You can also do a home birth in your bed or a home water birth. Water birth's are supposedly the least painful.

Natural means just that; no drugs for the pain just focusing on the task at hand and also focusing on breathing. If you choose to have drugs you will have an epideural and this method is much less painful.
