Snakes native to California include rat snakes, California kingsnake, gophersnake, coachwhip, sharp-tailed snake, racer, whipsnake, several species of gartersnake, rubber boas, ring-necked snakes, many rattlesnakes, shovel-nosed snakes, and more.

There are an estimated 33 native snake species, but only 6 are venomous. They are: -Western Diamondback Rattlesnake -Sidewinder -Speckled Rattlesnake -Red Diamondback Rattlesnake -Mojave Green Rattlesnake -Southern Pacific Rattlesnake
