People have manic and depressive days. Manic people are full of energy, unusually happy and sometimes engage in risky behavior. Depressed people are lethargic,have no facial expression, and aren't interested in personal hygiene or health. Medication and psychological help can help manage this disease.

Bipolar Disorder is marked primarily by intense mood swings of both a depressive and manic nature, mood swings that may last for weeks for months at a time and that are often accompanied by poor judgment and disruptions in logical thinking.

The disorder includes extreme mood swings from being hyperactive (pressured speech, lack of sleep, flight of ideas, grandiose thinking) to being depressed (hopelessness, prolonged sadness, suicidal thoughts, limited energy).
