Rhabdomyolysis is the rapid destruction of skeletal muscles which result in leakage of myoglobin into the urine. It is caused by severe burns, muscle trauma, extreme physical activity or by viruses. The common symptom of Rhabdomyolysis include muscle tenderness, dark, red or cola colored urine, stiffness and weakness.

The urine can take on a redish or cola color as the break down of the blood in the muscle fibers is excreted into the urine.
