You should take your fuel to a local recycling station where the employees can properly dispose of the fuel without dumping into the river.

Perhaps the best way to dispose of a fuel is to consume it. Having said that, it is conceivable that someone might have fuel left over after disposing of the device that uses it. One could check with friends and neighbors to see if they could use the fuel. Or, many cities have a hazardous waste collection too.

Every county has a regional toxic waste receiving facility. Look in the phone book. Sometimes a city will hold days and times when they'll receive fuels, chemicals, waste, etc. , and you'll see the ad in the local paper. It's not recommended to put it in the garbage or dump or the ground.

Put it in a container and take it to a recycle plant. Let them take care of the fuel. They would know the best way to do so.

Most automotive parts stores typically have hazardous chemical disposal tanks that will accept used oil and old fuel. In addition, many towns and jurisdictions have a hazardous items pickup day periodically throughout the year.

Store it in a leak proof container and call a company to come pick it up. Or store it and call the city department that picks up your garbage.
