What are truth about the stories that Lewis Carroll used drugs while writing?

I have heard that he was high on drugs when he did his best writing.

While his family destroyed many of his journals on his death, the general belief of most scholars now is that he was not a drug user. He did suffer from seizures believed to be brought on by migraines, which may or may not have fueled this myth.

There is no evidence for this, though many find that his writings feel like drug trips. However, there is little solid proof he used any drugs beyond some basic medicines. However, he was a trained in math and logic, and likely just wanted to write something a little different.

We cannot be certain what he took. In his lifetime it was fashionable for writers to experiment with drugs. There are persistent rumours about him which may indeed be true.

Rumors persist that like many authors of his time Mr. Carroll at least experimented with both ether and probably opium. Whether or not his stories are a direct result of that is still conjecture.
