What can I do about a Genie garage door opener that won't open?

Depending upon the model you have, there could be a few different causes. First, check the circuit that the unit is plugged in to. Most garage circuits have a GFC protector that trips. Push the Test button, then the Reset. That's the most likely cause. Next, check the drive unit. Some have a reset button. That should fix it.

Check to make sure that it is plugged in and that nothing is blocking the electronic eyes on either side of the bottom of the door. If it is still under warranty call the manufacturer and/or the store you purchased the opener from and have them troubleshoot the problem for you.

Look up a garage door contractor near you on , which will give you a list of names. It is better to talk to a local professional.

If your garage door opener is not working you may need to replace the batteries, you should be able to access it on the back and get the old battery out and replace with the new. If that does not work I would contact the company who made it.

First off, figure out if you can exchange or return the item to the store. If not, see if you have a warranty with the manufacturer on this product. If so, call the warranty number and they will instruct you what to do next. If not, call a technician.
