Brown water in your koi pond can come from not enough cleaning, or to much cleaning. Overcleaning can remove naturally cycled water. Allow it to recycle on its own. You may also have a bacteria setting in, this is bad for fish, purchase a detoxification kit and add to pond.

A water change should be done. Also Tetra makes a product called TetraPond Water Clarifier formally known as AquaRem that works like a dream in clearing up water. Adding barley to your filter will help as well. The pond should not be overstocked with fish either.

The water may have turned brown as a result of algae growth or simply a buildup of debris. It would be wise to change out 25-50% of the water slowly using a dechlorinator. Make sure your pond has shade, direct sunlight encourages algae growth. You can purchase a UV sterilizer for your filter that will kill algae as well.

Brown water can be caused by algae and can be treated with chemicals from a pond or pet retailer. Changing the filter if there is one will also help.

This usually means you have some decomposing plant matter in your pond. I would use a pool skimmer to remove any dead leaves, lilly pads, other debris. I would also add some beneficial bacteria. This will eat the source of the problem. You can find it at any good pond store. Good luck and happy pondering!

Well, I would recommend changing the water. That is just about the only recommendation I believe there is for this issue. The dirt in the water is definitely not good for the Koi fish; it will suffocate them eventually. Put the fish in a bag, and change the water as soon as possible.

Well brown water is not very good at all. You need to add some chlorine to clean the water tank as soon as you can.
