You can inquire at your schools guidance office for local scholarships and you can go look for Sallie Mae on the internet for lists of them. You can also go to the FAFSA website to see what is available.

I can visit the registrar's office of a nearby university. I can also contact the state representative of my district and ask for minority or merit based grants or scholarships.

Keeping grades high is one way to look better on scholarship applications. Involvement in activities, such as sports or clubs, also looks good on applications. Don't overload yourself on extracurricular activities or else your grades may suffer. Also, look for scholarships that offer smaller rewards since many people overlook them.

The main thing is to be willing to seek them out! There are many college scholarships available to students, and many of them require little work or anything "extra" in order to apply for them. Depending upon your race you may have more opportunities.

Firstly, your grades and any relevant test scores need to be high to qualify for applying for scholarships. The next step is to write an essay that explains your strengths and why you deserve the scholarship. You will get the scholarship if you can convince then that you deserve it.

Scholarships are usually based on academic achievement, so keep your grades high. Also, look for groups and organizations that offer scholarships to students in your major. Consult the financial aid office for a list of available funding opportunities.
