What can I do to relax and sleep?

I've been suffering from insomnia.

Try to meditate. If any thought enters your mind, push it out. I find that a gentle back rub helps me feel relaxed at the end of the day. Read a book or watch tv instead of talking to friends or eating a snack. Stretching sometimes helps me get calm, too. Concentrate on your heartbeat and try to slow it.

Try tensing up your body while counting to ten (getting tighter with each number). Then do the reverse and relieve the tension one by one. This helps the body relax.

Insomnia is often caused by some stressor, so the best way to cure yourself of insomnia would be so find what the stressor is and remove it.

Try reading before going to bed, or doing something that is boring, nothing that will stimulate your brain. Maybe try a sound machine, to block out noises, and concentrate on it. Have you tried any sleeping pills, either over the counter or prescribed by a doctor? Sometimes the scent of lavendar is helpful.
