Cocoa bean is a lightweight, long-lasting mulch that darkens in color as it ages. Because of chemicals in the shell, it is partially toxic to dogs and cats.

Cocoa bean mulch provides the same weed control and water useage control as other mulch. Only difference is going to be the smell as it smells like chocolate when wet.

Its an idea coming from the Netherlands and very good against weeds and snails. The snails don't like sharp edged underground like the cocoa bean mulch. Its a wonderful fertilizer for your garden plants and makes especially loam and heavy ground more loosely for the roots. you can order it in garden online shops.

Cocoa bean mulch is an excellent insulator for gardening and absorbs moisture better than standard mulch. Cocoa bean mulch also comes with a nice natural smell that can last for up to a month.

Cocoa bean mulch is made from the hulls of cocoa beans, and is imported from tropical climates where cocoa beans grow. It is generally a finer textured mulch than those made from woodchips or bark. It will retain a chocolate aroma for a few weeks. It can sometimes mold when laid too thickly.

Cocoa hulls can be used as an attractive mulch to help in maintaining flower beds. For best results, cover the flower bed with 2 to 3 inches of mulch.
