The best thing to do is add a little bit more fruit, for extra vitamins, into its diet. You can also check the pet store for something for colds for rodents.

Hamsters don't really get colds as such. They do however get upper respiratory infections and pneumonia. It will not go away without antibiotics and without treatment will be fatal. Running the shower on hot and sitting in the bathroom with the hamster for 10 mins or so will help him to be able to breathe better, do not get the hamster wet.

What looks like a cold is likely an Upper Respiratory Infection. These can be serious in rodents and fatal if not treated. Get your hamster to an exotics vet (who specialises in rodents) ASAP so s/he can prescribe a proper course of treatment, such as antibiotics.

hamsters and other small animals can get colds just like we can. sometimes their eyes will be runny and watery, as well as their nose, and you may hear coughing. Make sure you are using a bedding that doesn't create lots of dust, because chances are your hamster's cold may just be ongoing allergies.

Unfortunately, once a small animal (a hamster) is ill and demonstrating symptoms, the illness is pretty far progressed. It is difficult for it to get better though not impossible. Although a return to health is not likely to occur wihtout medical attention, even with medical attention recovery is not certain.

If your hamster has a stuffy or runny nose it may be an indication of a cold, he may also lose his apatite and become lazy, similar to a human. Some people suggest cod liver oil on a little bit of bread to fix up sick hamsters!
