Dogs often get lung disease from inhaling particles of dust. Long term exposure to these particles can cause a disease known as pneumoconiosis. This disease is rare in animals because they are rarely subjecte to the necessary conditions to cause the disease. Some forms of upper respitory infection can also be caused by allergies.

Labs, as well as any other breed of dog, can have lung disease. If your dog is coughing or having trouble breathing have it checked out at the vet.

It really all depends on the individual dog. If you are concerned talk to your vet they will have all the knowledg that you need.

Labradors are susceptible to respiratory problems including sneezing, coughing and difficulty breathing. If your Lab seems to be having trouble breathing, take him to the vet right away.

All dogs are prone to health problems, but lung disease is not a genetic defect you generally find in the breed. Labs are much more prone to problems such as hip dysplasia and joint problems. Labradors are also very greedy dogs with their food, so obesity is a problem. Be sure to keep all of their meals scheduled.
