What can you tell me about slaves in the 13 colonies?

Slaves in the 13 colonies were black people from Africa who were brought to the America's against their will to serve white people as farm hands,maids,manual laborers and other work given to them by the slave master. Slaves were not allowed to have rights,own property or have an education and were treated not much better than common animals.

Early on when the 13 colonies were just forming, slavery wasn't a huge issue. What would happen was people would come over as indentured servants in order to pay for the trip over. They would work for a certain amount of time to pay of their debt then be let free.
