Worm infestations travel in the oral fecal route and are common in children especially those in day care where workers don't wash hands or change gloves between diaper changes. They can be treated with medication but the source should be found to prevent further infection of the child. The treatment is relatively easy.

There is a wide variety of answers for worm infestation. If your child has been playing in mud and dirt, he/she could get ringworm. Also tapeworms and other worms can be ingested by children from eating different fruits/meats, etc... If you suspect worms, go to your doctor as soon as possible and have your child checked out.

To effectively treat a child with worms you need to diagnose what type of worms you have. Your doctor will do this be sending stool samples to the lab.

Worn infestations in children can come in several different forms. Rounds worms are one common type and are round and thin with either a white or pink coloration and can be 10-20 inches long. Pinworms are another type and white and are small and thin. Hookworms are tiny dark pink colored worm. Tapeworms are flat and very long.
