If you've had chicken pox, you can be at risk for shingles. Shingles usually occur when your immune defenses are down. There is no known reason why shingles attack a certain part of the body. However, face shingles need to be looked at immediately due to increased infection possibilities.

Shingles occur when your loses the ability to keep the chickenpox virus inactive. Fatigue, stress, and a weakend immune system are common causes. See your doctor for antiviral medication. Keep clean with soap and water, wear loose clothing, and apply petroleum jelly. Do not scratch!

Shingles is a herpes virus, the same one that causes chickenpox. It attacks nerve bands anywhere in the body and there is no particular cause for getting them on the face. As soon as you suspect shingles it is important to contact a doctor. Shingles can be extremely painful and may be lessened with the use of antiviral medication.

Shingles is caused by a dormant virus caused by originally having chicken pox. Shingles will follow the nerve path and an antiviral med is the only cure.
