A vast array of allergic reactions and diseases can cause rashes. Some rashes are painful, and others are itchy or painless. Rashes may be localized, or affect entire body.

First, have you come into contact with any chemicals or plants which might cause a reaction? Some plants cause a reaction, poison ivy being the most famous, but the saps of some house plants such as euphorbias can cause rashes. Have you changed to a new soap or hand lotion? All these things can cause rashes.

You are allergic to something that might not have even touched the hands or the feet. It could be something like wood or metal allergies.

This sounds like it could be either eczema or perhaps athlete's foot or other fungal infection. The best thing to do with any kind of rash that is causing you discomfort is to see your doctor, if only for your own peace of mind and some relief from itching.

There are a number of possible causes. Most common is contact rash from poison ivy or similar plants or chemicals. Atopic dermatitis is chronic, itchy inflammation that is chronic and its cause is not known. Topical corticosteroids such as Clobetasol are the usual treatment for both types of dematitis.
