Sharp ankle pain can be caused by bad circulation through your leg. There could be something blocking the flow of blood down to you ankle that is causing sharp pains and numbness. If this is not the case, you could have strained your ankle by either over exerting yourself or walking/running and your foot landing wrong and twisting it.

Torn tendons or maybe a fractured ankle. Repetitive use. Those are a few of the problems you might be having with sharp ankle pain. Visit doctor if it gets worse.

The shoes you wear or over exertion may be causing the ankle pain. Try elevating your legs or wearing an ace bandage.

You may have just sprained your ankle. If so just wrap it and apply heat to it. If it continues to hurt you may have fractured it or broke it. You can always go see your doctor and get an x-ray. Ankles are weak and easily harmed. If you are worried just go get some help.

The sharp pain in your ankle could be the cause of something you did prior to the pain. I would think back to what you did four days ago and see if anything clicks as to why your ankle is experiencing this pain.
