What could be going on if the battery service charge shows on cluster in an Impala and the car will not start?

This could be caused by the battery not taking or holding a charge or it could be caused by a faulty alternator that is not charging or charging too much.

There is a problem in your cars electrical charging system. Your battery may have corrosion on the terminals. The Battery terminals may be loose. Have the charging system tested.

The battery light will always illuminate when the key is turned to the on position and the engine is not running. There is probably some other reason (other than the battery) that the car will not start unless the car does not crank over and a clicking is heard. This is a low voltage indicator. Check connections.

if the battery in your car doesn't work well then its most likely junk and you need to buy a new one
