This could be a sign of deterioration of the optic nerve, It could indicate a lesion on the nerve or within the Cornea. This is a serious side effect, seek medical attention immediately.

If you are getting the pain only one eye, it may be due to migraine. If your eye is red with severe pain, and you have cloudy or decreased vision, it is better to consult a neurologist.

The cause could be that there is a problem associated with the eye and it is hurt. You should consult your doctor about this problem. If you rather not then you obviously don't care and should not even bother asking. If you are the curious type, then I suggest you personally poke around in there.

Infection of right supra or infra orbital or maxillary sinuses, occasional foreign body in upper or lower fornices of eyes, trigeminal neuralgia, or compression of optic nerve can cause pain.
