An upper thoracic hump can be caused by Cushing's Disease, when the body produces excess cortisol, which is stored in fat deposits such as this hump. It may be benign, but it's best to schedule a biopsy through your doctor.

Get checked for osteoporosis or arthritis. Both can cause a hump and both can cause long term problems. Both have effective treatments that really help.

Poor posture and bone health is usually the cause but heredity can play a part. Increase intakes of calcium and vitamin D to help with bone strength and don't sloutch.

This could be a lipoma, a benign fatty tissue growth, but it is symptomatic of Cushing's Disease, if other symptoms present. This can also be caused by years of disturbed posture caused by nerve compression or osteoporosis related syndromes. You need a doctor to give you diagnosis and well-deserved relief, you shouldn't put up with this pain and distress.

Not being a medical professional, I would say perhaps a genetic anomaly may be the cause. It could also be a symptom of osteoporosis or just a part of the aging process.

The Cause for an upper thoracic hump in my opinion is genetics. i know myself and many of my family members have this hump. i have looked into it with other famlies and it seems that if one person in the family has it that most of the family has it. and vise versa.
