Chronic sore throat could be caused by GERD (aka gastroesaphageal reflux disease, commonly known as heartburn), seasonal allergies, immunodeficiency syndromes, or chronic viral infection. If by "sore throat" you mean that you have pain on swallowing or you feel like food gets stuck on the way to your stomach, you could have a medical problem with your esophagus.

Chronic sore throat is a symptom of any type of long-term pharyngitis. This can be the result of smoking, exposure to chemicals, exposure to smoke, oe allergies. Someone suffering from chronic sore throat may also be genetically prone to such a condition, which, combined with environmental factors, can lead to such discomfort.
