Question by  Rani60 (351)

What could be the cause of spotting the day prior to ovulation?

I am on track to ovulate tomorrow and started spotting today, should I be concerned about this?

The spotting is very likely from ovulation itself. When the eggs bursts from the ovarian follicle, sometimes a small amount of blood is released. It can also be a reaction to the hormones involved in ovulation. I would bet you actually ovulated today.

Women's cycles vary each time we have a period. Therefore, if you spot earlier than your ovulation this can be due to a variety of factors. Common factors are related to stress, exercise level, nutrition intake, etc. Spotting can occur during anytime of your cycle and is nothing to be excessively worried about unless you are already pregnant.

Spotting the day before ovulation is normal. The doctors called it ovulation spotting. It happens before ovulation and during sometimes. It consist of red-pinkish blood, sometimes a light brown spotting. Often, there is white stuff that comes out called mucous.

Spotting around the time of ovulation is most likely the result of your ovaries preparaing to release an egg. It is also common to spot after ovulation as the ovary releases a small amount of blood when the egg bursts from it. Spotting around ovulation is not a cause for concern.

No need to be concerned. It is very normal for many women to spot before ovulation. It has to do with hormone changes and is a sign of fertility.

No, this can be very normal and nothing for you to be concerned over. When bleeding before your cycle, this mid-cycle spotting actually seems to happen just before ovulation occurs during a decline in the woman's estrogen level. Its a normal part of the mentral cycle.

Sometimes you can spot when you ovulate. This has happened to me and it's not really a problem unless you are outright bleeding. If you are trying to concieve then I would go for it because you have three days after ovualtion that you can get preggo.

It may be implantation bleeding if you ovulated early this month. If not, spotting during ovulation isn't unheard of and shouldn't be a concern.

Small variations in hormone can cause a few spots at an irregular time. Trauma may also cause this. If it happens several times I should be investigated, otherwise if this was an only occurance it is unlikely something serious.
