if it is electric, is has some type of computer components inside. This could have been damaged somehow. Also, it must has a sensor to detect the temperature, and probably that has been damaged.

Get rid of it ASAP! There is a most probably a short in the wire. If you don't stop using it now, it may become a fire hazard.
