What could have caused a bruise with a lump on my arm?

It is very possible that you could have bumped your arm without noticing it. You also might have ruptured a blood vessel, which would likely produce a bump along with a bruise.

A bone fracture is often the cause of a lump and a bruise. If arm is painful, see your doctor for xrays.

A bruise is caused by damaged blood vessels from minor injuries and a bump from blood leaking from these injured blood vessels into the tissues. Also, Nutritional deficiencies especially in vitamin C results to very thin and delicate blood vessels causing them to rupture with even the slightest amount of pressure.
